Comparables

See Comparables on an Evaluation

While you work a unit, Vehicle Fair Trade answers the question of what comparable vehicles are listed for by bringing the comparables onto the evaluation, with no separate search required.

Open an evaluation and Vehicle Fair Trade shows comparable live listings for that unit, trim-matched, so you can sanity-check your number against what similar vehicles are asking, without opening several browser tabs.

Where comparables appear on the unit

On an evaluation, Vehicle Fair Trade pulls comparable live listings for that vehicle, matched to its year, make, model, and trim. They sit alongside the appraisal, so the context is in the same place you are working rather than in a separate search.

What they tell you, and what they do not

These are asking prices on retail listings, not sold prices and not wholesale. They are useful for the customer conversation and as a check on your read. They are not your buy number. The book value provides the benchmark, and the bids provide the real number. The Comparables overview explains why.

Narrowing the comparables

You can tighten the set by trim, year, and similar criteria, so you are comparing the unit in front of you to genuinely similar vehicles rather than a base model listed at a lower price or a loaded one listed high. The closer the match, the more useful the context.

You can also set how far the search reaches. The distance filter offers presets from 25 km up to 2000 km, or a custom radius, measured from your dealership. A tight radius shows your local market; a wide one tells you whether a unit that looks scarce nearby is actually plentiful two regions over.

FAQ

Where do I see comparables for a unit?

On the evaluation itself. Vehicle Fair Trade pulls trim-matched comparable listings for that vehicle.

Are these sold prices?

No. They are asking prices on current listings. They are useful context rather than a record of what sold.

Is this my buy number?

No. Comparables are retail asking prices. Your buy number comes from the book value and the bids.

Can I narrow the comparables?

Yes. Tighten by trim, year, and similar criteria, and set the search distance with presets or a custom radius.

Why isn’t there a comparable for every unit?

Rare or unusual vehicles have few similar listings. The tool is most useful for common units with many comparables.
