Getting Started
Manage Your Wholesaler Contacts
Your wholesaler list determines who every evaluation reaches. A send is only as effective as the buyers on the list, and keeping it current takes about a minute.
Add your wholesalers with their name and mobile number, edit or remove them as your buyer list changes, and they are ready to receive evaluations by text. The list is where your vehicles are sent.
Step 1: Add a wholesaler
Add each buyer with their name and mobile number on the Add a wholesaler form. VFT uses the number to text them an evaluation, so it should be the number they actually read offers on.
Step 2: Edit or remove as the list changes
Buyers change over time. Update a number when it changes, and remove anyone you no longer deal with so they stop receiving your vehicles. A current list means every send reaches buyers who may bid.
Set buyer preferences (optional)
Each wholesaler’s record can carry vehicle preferences that describe what they buy. Open a buyer and fill in any of them:

- Min / max year — the model-year range the buyer takes.
- Max odometer — the highest mileage they will consider.
- Cab and body types — the configurations they buy (sedan, SUV, crew cab, and so on).
- Makes — the brands they want, comma-separated.
- VIN prefixes to avoid — VIN starts they skip, useful for steering around a country of origin or a body style they will not take.
When your dealership turns on preference filtering, these criteria drive the Matches preferences star tag on the send-to-wholesalers list: buyers whose preferences fit the unit are flagged and listed first, while the rest tuck behind a “Show other wholesalers” toggle. Preferences never block a send, you can still send to anyone, they just surface the most likely bidders for that specific vehicle. A buyer with no preferences set matches nothing and is treated as a general buyer.
Keep the list productive
Most buyer lists carry contacts who receive texts but have not submitted a real offer in some time. Once you are running volume, the statistics dashboard shows who is bidding versus who only receives texts. Trim the list accordingly. The purpose of the wholesale send is competition, and a list of non-bidders does not produce it.
FAQ
What do I need to add a wholesaler?
Their name and a mobile number that can receive texts. That is where an evaluation is sent.
Can I remove a wholesaler later?
Yes. Edit or remove any buyer at any time. Removing one stops your evaluations from going to them.
Do wholesalers need an account or an app?
No. They receive a text and reply to it. The entire exchange happens over SMS on their end.
How many wholesalers can I add?
Add as many as you deal with. More active bidders means more competition on your vehicles.
How do I know which wholesalers are worth keeping?
The statistics dashboard shows who bids and who only receives. Keep the ones competing for your vehicles.
