Getting Wholesaler SMS Consent

You cannot text every number you have. A wholesaler opts in first, and Vehicle Fair Trade makes that part of setting them up.

Before Vehicle Fair Trade texts a wholesaler, they opt in to receive your evaluations by SMS. The consent step is part of setting up a buyer, so you reach people who agreed to it rather than texting numbers without permission.

Texting buyers who agreed to hear from you keeps you compliant with how SMS is meant to work, and it keeps your number from being flagged as spam. A flagged number is one whose texts stop being delivered, which disables the entire wholesale blast. Consent is not paperwork. It is what keeps the channel working.

How a wholesaler opts in

When you set a buyer up for SMS, there is a consent step where the wholesaler agrees to receive your evaluations by text. Once they have opted in, they are part of the blast and start receiving units like any other buyer on your list.

A buyer who has not opted in will not be texted, which is the purpose of the step. Handle the consent when you add them to your buyer list using Add wholesaler, and they are ready to receive evaluations the normal way. It is a one-time step per buyer, not something you repeat on every send.

FAQ

Do I need a wholesaler’s consent to text them?

Yes. They opt in before Vehicle Fair Trade will text them. It is built into setting a buyer up for SMS.

How does a wholesaler opt in?

Through the consent step when they are set up for SMS. Once they agree, they are part of your blast.

Why does consent matter so much?

It keeps you compliant and keeps your texting number off spam lists. A flagged number stops your evaluations from being delivered.

Can I text a buyer who hasn’t consented?

No. That is exactly what the consent step prevents. Get them opted in first.

Do I have to do this for every send?

No. Consent is handled once per buyer when you set them up, not on each evaluation.
